Jaish-e-Mohammed HQ rebuilt in Bahawalpur after Operation Sindoor strike
Satellite imagery reportedly showing reconstruction activity at the Jamia Subhan Allah compound in Bahawalpur — long identified as the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar — has reignited global scrutiny of Pakistan's counter-terrorism commitments. The compound was struck by India during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, yet appears to be undergoing active restoration, according to a geopolitical analysis published in the Times of Israel on 8 May 2026.
What the Satellite Imagery Shows
According to the analysis authored by Sergio Restelli, an Italian political advisor and geopolitical expert, recent satellite images indicate heavy machinery, repair work, and restored domes at the Bahawalpur compound. The facility is widely regarded as the symbolic and operational nerve centre of Jaish-e-Mohammed, a group designated as a terrorist organisation by the United Nations.
Restelli wrote that the site appears not to have been dismantled following the Indian strike. Instead, he argued, it was
