Romania's Constitutional Court Postpones Decision on First-Round Election Cancellation to December 2

Bucharest, Nov 30 (NationPress) The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) has announced the postponement of its decision regarding the annulment of the first-round outcomes from the November 24 presidential election to December 2.

On Friday, the CCR confirmed that it will render a verdict concerning the appeal by Cristian Terhes, a candidate in the election, to invalidate the first-round results on December 2 at 17:00 local time. This decision follows the initiation of a nationwide recount of the over 9.4 million votes that were cast, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The recount, which was mandated by the CCR on Thursday, is being executed by the Central Electoral Bureau and encompasses both valid and invalid ballots.

Consequently, the campaign for the second round, originally set to commence on November 29, has been suspended until the court issues its final ruling.
