Moscow, July 3 (NationPress) - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Thursday that they have apprehended a 23-year-old woman in St. Petersburg for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack at the behest of Ukrainian Special Services.
The FSB reported that they have successfully "terminated the activities of a Russian citizen born in 2002 who was engaged in the preparation of a terrorist act under the direction of Ukrainian special services."
It was revealed that the detained individual had established "proactive connections" with a representative of the Ukrainian Special Services via WhatsApp and Telegram (platforms owned by Meta, which are designated as extremist in Russia), as reported by TASS.
According to the FSB, the woman was intending to acquire citizenship in an EU country. She expressed her willingness to participate in "sabotage and terrorist activities in pursuit of leaving" Russia.
The FSB also indicated that she attempted to ignite a railway infrastructure facility and inscribed pro-Ukrainian phrases and slogans in various public locations in Moscow under the guidance of her "curator."
She traveled to St. Petersburg to surveil an employee of a defense enterprise, with plans to "detonate" his vehicle using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which was also provided to her, the FSB disclosed.
The woman was taken into custody while she was allegedly in the process of placing the IED in the defense employee's vehicle.
Following this, the Investigative Service of the University of the Federal Security Service of Russia (UFSB) for St. Petersburg officially initiated a criminal case under pertinent sections of the Russian Criminal Code, the FSB added.
