Focused on the theme "Building the Path to Modernisation Together: Explorations and Practices from Saudi Arabia and China," attendees from both nations participated in detailed discussions concerning cultural exchange, interpersonal communication, and advancements in green energy.
Saleh Al-Saqri, the former Saudi Cultural Attache in China, expressed that since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1990, there has been notable qualitative and quantitative enhancement in the interactions between Saudi Arabia and China.
He emphasized that fortifying the comprehensive strategic partnership with China not only aids Saudi Arabia in achieving a diplomatic equilibrium but also embodies a collective vision aimed at fostering peace and amplifying dialogue among different civilisations.
The year 2025 will be significant as it will commemorate the China-Saudi Cultural Year as well as the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. In this light, Haitham Alsayed, director of the Chinese Studies Unit at CRIK, highlighted that cultural and interpersonal exchanges are foundational for nurturing friendship and boosting mutual understanding between the two countries.
Alsayed pointed out that the collaboration in organizing joint cultural exhibitions and events, academic and student exchanges, along with translation and publishing projects, has produced beneficial outcomes. He stated, "These initiatives not only facilitate knowledge exchange but also reinforce connections among the youth of both nations."
In recent years, the collaboration in clean energy between Saudi Arabia and China has witnessed notable advancements. Abdulrahman Marshod, a researcher at CRIK, remarked that this partnership in clean energy signifies a profound strategic transformation in their bilateral relations, shifting from a traditional oil and trade-centric model to one focused on diversification, innovation, and sustainability.
He further elaborated that the energy relationship has evolved into a strategic alliance centred on clean energy, characterized by complementarity, joint investment, and visionary development.
