According to a post from the IDF on X, "Returning to Their Borders. Seven returning hostages have now met IDF and Shin Bet forces in the Gaza Strip, and they are on their way to Israeli territory."
Upon their arrival, these individuals will undergo a medical evaluation.
"IDF commanders and soldiers salute and embrace the returnees on their journey back home," stated the military.
The IDF spokesperson urged the public to show responsibility and sensitivity, respect the privacy of the returnees, and adhere to official communications. The IDF is ready to receive more hostages expected to be handed over to the Red Cross later.
Additionally, another group of 13 hostages will be freed later today from various locations in Gaza.
Simultaneously, thousands of Israelis have gathered at the Nova site for special holiday prayer services, the location where Hamas perpetrated a massacre and took hundreds hostage on October 7, 2023.
Earlier today, Hamas announced plans to release 20 "living Israeli captives" as part of the initial phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
"The agreement reached is the result of our people’s perseverance and the resilience of our resistance fighters, and we reaffirm our commitment to the agreed terms as long as the occupation complies," said a statement from Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades.
"The occupation could have secured the return of most of its captives alive months ago, but it has chosen to delay," the statement added.
