Berlin, Nov 4 (NationPress) Shafi Burfat, Chairman of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Maha (JSMM), has reached out to American Congressman Brad Sherman, sending copies to various international human rights organizations, alleging that Pakistan has subjected its indigenous populations, notably the Sindhis, to extreme forms of slavery, political oppression, economic exploitation, and horrific torture of political activists.

In an open letter to Sherman, Burfat stated, “The marginalized communities, political activists, intellectuals, writers, journalists, and citizens of the region who advocate for human rights see you as a beacon of strength and hope. Your timely interventions against human rights violations faced by historically oppressed nations, including Sindh, resonate deeply with us.”

He continued, “Your steadfast stance and bold remarks regarding the ongoing political and economic exploitation perpetrated by the Pakistani state are perceived by countless oppressed individuals, including the Sindhi populace, as a ray of hope amidst the overwhelming darkness of oppression, tyranny, and state-driven fascism.”

Burfat alleged that since the inception of Pakistan, this “unnatural state” has persistently schemed under the guise of religion against the existence and rights of the “imprisoned nations”, including their political freedoms, economic resources, demographics, languages, cultures, and histories.

“The truth is that this unnatural state epitomizes Punjabi imperialism, created solely to serve the interests of the Punjabi colonial nation. Approximately 80% of Pakistan’s military comprises Punjabis, while historic nations like the Sindhis endure severe oppression, political repression, and economic exploitation at the hands of this fascist regime,” he asserted.

The Sindhi leader emphasized that the people of Sindh are exercising their right to national self-determination, a universally recognized principle, and are fighting for the independence of their homeland, “Sindhudesh.”

Due to this struggle, he noted that hundreds of Sindhi political activists have been arrested, gone missing, or imprisoned for years within the torture chambers of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

“Numerous mutilated bodies of Sindhi national activists have been discovered by the ISI on roads and in desolate areas across Sindh. This includes JSMM’s Central General Secretary Muzaffar Bhutto, Afzal Panhwar, Samieullah Kalhoro, Munir Khan Choliani, Raja Dahar Bhanbhro, Zulfiqar Kolachi, and many others,”

the letter highlighted, detailing the atrocities committed by Pakistani forces.

“JSMM’s Senior Vice Chairman Sarai Qurban Khahoor and Noorullah Tanyu (Rupalo Choliani) were publicly assaulted and burned alive by the army in front of villagers,” it further added.

With hundreds of activists still unaccounted for, Burfat expressed hope that Congressman Sherman would advocate for the safety of the many missing political activists from Sindh.
