Bratislava, April 11 (NationPress) Slovakia's President Peter Pellegrini on Friday expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, calling it a game-changer while suggesting the possibility of launching a comparable program in his country.

The Slovakian President's appreciation for the initiative emerged after he planted a Linden tree, recognized as Slovakia's national tree, at the City Park in Sihot, Nitra—one of the oldest towns in Slovakia that also produces Defender and Discovery vehicles for Tata Motors Jaguar Land Rover—during a visit with President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday. Nitra's Mayor Marek Hattas was also in attendance.

During the planting ceremony, Pellegrini was captivated by the purpose and vision behind the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative initiated by PM Modi.

President Murmu elaborated to her Slovakian counterpart on the significance of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ program, which essentially involves planting a tree in honor of one’s mother and illustrates how this ‘motherly connection’ enhances relationships between humans and the environment.

The Slovak President was so taken with the initiative that he discussed the prospect of implementing a similar campaign in Slovakia, according to reports.

Last year, on World Environment Day, PM Modi launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, urging citizens to engage with it and bolster the movement.

This initiative not only pays tribute to mothers' crucial roles in nurturing life but also supports the well-being of our planet.

Since its inception, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative has garnered global attention and accolades for its mission and potential to transform climate preservation into a ‘people’s revolution’.

President Murmu departed for New Delhi on Friday afternoon after a successful visit, marking the first by an Indian President to Slovakia in nearly three decades.
