Acknowledging the recognition, Prime Minister Modi wrote on X: 'Honoured to receive the Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class) in Bratislava this evening. My gratitude to the people and Government of Slovakia for this honour, which belongs to the 140 crore people of India. I dedicate this award to the enduring friendship between India and Slovakia.' Varanasi Through Slovak Eyes

On the sidelines of the state visit, PM Modi and President Pellegrini jointly walked through a painting exhibition at the Presidential Palace of Slovakia, featuring works by Slovak artists inspired by Varanasi — Modi's parliamentary constituency and one of India's oldest living cities. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the exhibition, themed 'Varanasi City', captured the spiritual, cultural, and everyday life of the ancient city. Several of the participating artists had visited Varanasi in person and drew inspiration from its distinctive ambience and traditions. Both leaders described art as a powerful bridge between the two countries.

Yoga at the Presidential Palace

Ahead of the International Day of Yoga on 21 June, a special Yoga camp was organised at the Presidential Palace on the same day. Slovak schoolchildren performed a Yoga demonstration in the presence of both leaders. The MEA stated that the session highlighted 'the expanding cultural engagement between India and Slovakia as well as the universal appeal of Yoga as a means of promoting physical well-being, mental harmony and healthy living.'

The state visit and the accompanying cultural exchanges signal a deliberate effort to deepen people-to-people ties between India and the Central European nation.
