Khartoum, Feb 25 (NationPress) The Sudanese government announced on Monday that it would pursue retaliatory actions against Kenya for its involvement in activities related to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Sudan's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Hussein al-Amin stated at a press conference in Port Sudan, "We will present a memorandum to the African Union and other global bodies, along with escalatory measures against Kenya for its antagonistic stance towards Sudan."

He further revealed, "We intend to implement economic sanctions, including a ban on the importation of Kenyan goods, particularly as Sudan is a major importer of Kenyan tea."

The Sudanese official accused Kenya of backing the RSF, which has been in conflict with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) since mid-April 2023, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

He characterized Kenya's hosting of the signing event for the RSF and its affiliates to establish a founding charter, aiming to create a parallel government, as "a hostile act and a clear infringement on Sudan's domestic matters."

He emphasized that Kenya's actions violated multiple international agreements, including those established by the United Nations, the African Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development.

Additionally, Sudan's Foreign Ministry condemned Kenya's role in facilitating the RSF and its allies.

Last week, various opposition factions in Sudan, including the RSF, convened in Nairobi, Kenya, to endorse the Sudan Founding Charter, aimed at forming a parallel civilian government.

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in a severe conflict between the SAF and RSF, resulting in the loss of at least 29,683 lives by the end of 2024, according to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED), a crisis monitoring organization.
