Taipei, March 12 (NationPress) The Taiwanese Defence Ministry has announced that the United States is poised to partner in creating a non-red supply chain for uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in response to China, according to local media.

As Beijing seeks to establish a red supply chain to gain dominance in the global advanced technology market, Taiwan and other democratic nations are working to counter China's influence by forming a non-red supply chain.

Taiwanese Defence Minister Wellington Koo indicated on Tuesday that Washington is exploring collaborations with Taiwan to establish a non-red supply chain for UAVs, which is expected to yield significant outcomes, as reported by the prominent Taiwanese publication, Taipei Times.

"The aim of these partnerships is to leverage the unique strengths of both countries to gradually diminish China's market share in drones, particularly regarding essential components," he stated.

"We have reached a stage where reliance on China-manufactured drone components appears unavoidable. Therefore, we must construct a secure non-red supply chain. The key priority is that Taiwan must develop the capacity to manufacture drones that fulfill national defense needs," he further elaborated.

Last week, Foreign Affairs Minister Lin Chia-lung remarked that Taipei is pivotal in non-red supply chains as it is trusted by democratic nations and possesses technology vital to the semiconductor sector.

In February, President William Lai expressed Taiwan's aspiration to bolster cooperation with the US in critical technologies and innovations to collaboratively establish a secure and resilient non-red supply chain, as per local media reports.

"We believe that enhanced Taiwan-US interactions and collaborations not only bolster national security and development but also coincide with the shared economic interests of Taiwan and the US," he added.

This development follows a significant milestone in 2019 when Taiwan enacted legislation to incentivize its companies to create a non-red supply chain outside of China, offering affordable financing, tax incentives, and streamlined administration for investments within its territory.
