Thailand Floods: Casualty Count Reaches 25

Bangkok, Dec 3 (NationPress) The casualty count from the devastating floods in Thailand has escalated to 25, with six provinces still under water as levels slowly drop, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation stated on Tuesday.
More than 664,000 households across 10 provinces have been impacted by intense rainfall and flash floods since November 22, with nearly 29,000 individuals evacuated to temporary shelters, according to Xinhua news agency.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has directed relevant agencies to enhance disaster prevention and relief efforts, mobilizing public health personnel, transportation, as well as machinery and equipment to provide assistance to those in need during emergencies, as per deputy government spokesperson Sasikarn Watthanachan.
A moderate northeast monsoon coupled with a low-pressure system moving across the lower South China Sea, southern Thailand, and Malaysia is anticipated to bring localized heavy to very heavy rains to the lower southern area, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
Residents in the impacted regions have been warned about potential flash floods and runoff in the coming days, especially in foothills, waterways, and low-lying areas, as stated by the weather authority.
