Tragic Drowning Incident at Infamous Australian Beach

Sydney, Dec 29 (NationPress) A tragic incident unfolded at a beach infamous for its hazardous conditions on Australia's southwest coast, according to police reports from Western Australia (WA) on Sunday.

Three individuals were swimming at Conspicuous Cliff beach, located 355 km south of the state capital, Perth, when they encountered a perilous current around 2:40 p.m. local time on Saturday, as stated by the Xinhua news agency.

Before the police arrived, bystanders managed to pull the victims from the water while they were unconscious and initiated CPR.

A 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman could not be resuscitated and were pronounced dead at the scene. A 42-year-old man was revived and transported to a nearby hospital.

According to police, "All three adults were acquainted with one another and were visiting from the Perth area."

This beach is situated on WA's south coast, an area known for its turbulent seas and large, unpredictable waves, and it lacks lifeguard patrols.

Earlier on Saturday, another tragic incident occurred when a man was killed in a shark attack off the coast of Central Queensland in eastern Australia, local media reported.

The man, in his 40s, sustained life-threatening injuries to his neck during the shark attack while fishing with relatives in waters near Yeppoon, marking the second such incident in Central Queensland within a month.

A spokesperson for the Queensland Police Service mentioned that the shark bite occurred around 4:37 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by The Courier Mail.

The man succumbed to his injuries just before 6 p.m., according to the police spokesperson.

This year alone, there have been at least four other shark attacks reported in Australian waters, as noted by the Australian Shark-Incident Database.
