Sydney, March 31 (NationPress) Authorities in Australia are on the lookout for a man who reportedly shot one individual and stabbed another, resulting in both suffering from life-threatening injuries.
The Queensland police have stated that a 30-year-old male fled the scene after allegedly shooting a neighbor and stabbing another during a conflict that took place in the early hours of Monday morning, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.
Emergency services responded to reports of a disturbance at a location in Surfers Paradise -- situated 70 km southeast of Brisbane on Queensland's Gold Coast -- shortly before 2 a.m. local time.
A 21-year-old male was discovered at the site with a gunshot wound to his stomach and multiple stab wounds to his back, while a 44-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his head, neck, and leg.
Both men received immediate medical attention for their life-threatening injuries before being transported to a nearby hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Authorities located a firearm at the crime scene and have initiated a search for the 30-year-old man who escaped prior to the police's arrival.
Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles of the Queensland Police Service mentioned during an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation radio that authorities have a “fair idea” regarding the identity of the suspect.
“We are appealing for this individual to surrender. This situation is not going to disappear; this is attempted murder,” he emphasized. “We simply need you to come forward and we will handle the situation from there.”
