Why Did a Man Lose His Life to a Targeted Stabbing in Eastern Australia?

Sydney, Sep 17 (NationPress) A man has tragically lost his life after suffering a targeted stabbing in eastern Australia early Wednesday morning.

Emergency services responded to reports of an assault on a street near the rural city of Grafton, located 490 km northeast of Sydney in New South Wales (NSW), around 1 am local time.

Upon arrival, police discovered that a 35-year-old man had been attacked by unidentified assailants while walking along the street, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.

Despite being treated by ambulance paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities from NSW Police stated that initial investigations suggest the stabbing was a targeted attack.

Local detectives have launched an investigation with support from the state homicide squad, and police indicated that the area is likely to remain a crime scene for an extended period.

This incident follows a stabbing in Melbourne's western suburbs on September 6, where two individuals lost their lives in what police are also treating as a targeted attack.

Emergency services were dispatched to reports of a serious injury in Cobblebank, 34 km west of Melbourne's city center, just before 8 pm on September 6.

When they arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy with critical injuries, and although CPR was initiated, he died at the scene.

Shortly thereafter, a 15-year-old boy was discovered with serious injuries on a nearby street; despite treatment, he too succumbed to his injuries.

A crime scene was established, and homicide squad detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, which are being treated as a targeted attack.

Just days earlier, on September 3, a teenager was charged in connection with another stabbing incident at a train station in western Sydney, which left a boy in critical condition.

Police reported that emergency services were called to a stabbing at a Merrylands railway station, located 20 km west of central Sydney, around 5:15 pm on Monday.

A 16-year-old male victim received treatment from ambulance paramedics before being transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators believe that the victim had interacted with two males unknown to him before the attack.

NSW Police confirmed that a 17-year-old later attended a police station, where he was arrested and charged with seven offenses, including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and using a knife in a public place.

He has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear before a children's court on Wednesday. Ongoing police inquiries are in progress.
