Moscow, July 4 (NationPress) - The President of the United States, Donald Trump, voiced his disappointment regarding the ongoing situation in Ukraine, indicating that there has been no advancement in resolving the conflict after a recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During a briefing with journalists at Joint Base Andrews located near Washington, Trump stated, “We discussed numerous topics, including Iran, and touched upon the war in Ukraine. I'm not pleased with that [situation].”

He further stressed, “I didn’t make any progress with him at all,” while referring to the attempts to resolve the conflict.

The Kremlin's aide, Yuri Ushakov, noted that the telephone conversation on Thursday lasted nearly an hour.

“Naturally, the issues surrounding Ukraine were part of the discussion. Donald Trump reiterated the urgency of ending the hostilities at the earliest. Vladimir Putin, on his part, highlighted that efforts are ongoing to find a political and negotiated resolution to the conflict. He informed Trump about the advancements in humanitarian agreements established during the second round of direct discussions between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. Additionally, he conveyed that Russia is open to continuing negotiations,” stated an official release from the office of the Russian President.

“Moreover, the President of Russia indicated that Russia aims to address the underlying causes that have led to the current situation, emphasizing that the ongoing confrontation is deeply regrettable. Russia is steadfast in pursuing these objectives,” the announcement continued.

According to Ushakov, there was a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding Iran and the broader state of affairs in the Middle East.

He claimed that the Russian side reiterated the importance of resolving all disputes and conflicts solely through political and diplomatic avenues.

“Both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing communication through their respective foreign affairs departments, defense ministries, and presidential advisors,” said the Kremlin aide.

This marks the fourth dialogue between Trump and Putin within a span of a month and a half, totaling six discussions since the start of the year.
