Tel Aviv, June 16 (NationPress) The US Embassy in Israel has experienced minor structural damage due to the shockwaves generated by Iranian missile strikes. Fortunately, US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, confirmed that no American personnel were harmed.
Due to the current situation, the US Embassy and Consulate in Israel will be closed today as a shelter-in-place order remains in effect amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
Ambassador Huckabee took to social media platform X to announce, "Our US Embassy in Israel & Consulate will officially remain closed today as shelter in place still in effect. There has been some minor damage from the concussions of Iranian missile hits near the Embassy Branch in Tel Aviv, but thankfully, there are no injuries to US personnel."
The ongoing hostilities have intensified following reports that US President Donald Trump recently vetoed a supposed plot to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, further heightening regional tensions.
On the Iranian side, the civilian death toll continues to climb. Iran's Health Ministry reports at least 230 casualties following four consecutive nights of Israeli airstrikes, with nearly 90 percent of those fatalities being civilians.
Despite the rising death toll and global calls for de-escalation, Tehran has firmly rejected ceasefire negotiations while Israeli attacks persist.
Mediators from Qatar and Oman have reportedly been informed by Iranian officials that only after Iran completes its military response to Israel's pre-emptive operations will meaningful negotiations be considered.
Meanwhile, Israel claims considerable success in targeting Iran's military and nuclear infrastructure. Israeli officials assert that numerous high-ranking Iranian military commanders and atomic scientists have been eliminated in recent strikes.
In the latest overnight offensive, Israeli forces targeted over 80 locations across Tehran, extending their strikes to include vital oil depots and government facilities, beyond just nuclear and military sites.
On Sunday, two major fuel depots in Tehran were destroyed by Israeli airstrikes, while additional assaults hit Ahvaz in the oil-rich Khuzestan province.
The Israeli military also targeted the headquarters of Tehran's police and defense ministry, along with a significant defense-linked site in the city of Isfahan.
