Seoul, July 9 (NationPress) A court session in South Korea deliberated on the possibility of issuing an arrest warrant for ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol regarding allegations tied to his unsuccessful attempt to enforce martial law. The hearing concluded on Wednesday after nearly seven hours.
The proceedings at the Seoul Central District Court spanned from approximately 2:20 p.m. until 9 p.m. During this time, a special counsel team presented arguments in favor of the warrant, while Yoon's legal team opposed it.
Yoon, present at the hearing, delivered a final statement lasting about 20 minutes before departing the court without answering any questions from the media.
The court's decision on the warrant is anticipated later today or early tomorrow. In the meantime, the former president will remain at the Seoul Detention Centre located in Uiwang, just south of the capital.
This hearing followed a request from special counsel Cho Eun-suk, who sought the warrant based on five primary allegations, including claims of wrongdoing in summoning select Cabinet members to a meeting prior to his martial law declaration on December 3.
