Zelensky Discusses Potential Ceasefire with Trump

Kyiv, Dec 9 (NationPress) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed on Monday that he engaged in talks regarding the potential for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine conflict with US President-elect Donald Trump, as reported by the UNIAN news agency.
“I informed him that we desire an end to the war more than anyone else globally. A diplomatic resolution would undoubtedly preserve more lives, and that is our goal,” Zelensky told the press.
Simultaneously, he emphasized that Ukraine needs further military assistance, including long-range weaponry, and seeks an invitation to join the NATO alliance to secure its safety.
Later in the day, Zelensky posted on Telegram that if there is a “pause” while Ukraine remains outside NATO, Kyiv might entertain French President Emmanuel Macron's suggestion to station foreign troops on Ukrainian territory to ensure protection.
Zelensky also shared intentions to reach out to US President Joe Biden to discuss the possibilities of inviting Ukraine into NATO, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Zelensky, Trump, and Macron convened in Paris on Saturday during the inauguration ceremony of the restored Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.
