New Delhi, Oct 21 (NationPress) This year, the celebration of Chhath Puja is set to take place at over 1,000 locations throughout Delhi, as announced by the Art, Culture, and Language Minister Kapil Mishra following a meeting with the Purvanchal Morcha.
During this meeting with Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha and other members, he also took the opportunity to evaluate the preparations for ‘Chhath Puja 2025’.
Mishra expressed that this year's Chhath Puja will be the largest celebration the city has ever experienced.
After a significant period, special arrangements are being made at the Yamuna Ghats, which has sparked considerable excitement among the devotees, he noted.
In addition to the Yamuna Ghats, grand festivities are planned at four major sites — Dwarka, Hathi Ghat, Pitampura, and Sonia Vihar.
To showcase the folk culture and traditions of Purvanchal, unique arrangements are being organized at all Chhath Ghats, he added.
The Department of Art, Culture, and Language has invited performers to showcase folk songs, dances, and various cultural events at over 200 locations across Delhi, he stated.
Grand entry gates, idols of Chhathi Maiyya and the Sun God, along with decorative lighting will enhance the Ghats, creating a spiritual and festive ambiance. At select key locations, ‘Model Chhath Ghats’ are being developed as benchmarks for ideal decoration and amenities, Mishra reported.
He noted that to streamline the process of securing necessary permissions and NoCs for Chhath Ghats, a Single Window Clearance System has been introduced — similar to the system previously utilized for large-scale events such as Kanwar Yatra, Ganesh Utsav, Durga Puja, and Ramlila.
A nodal officer will be designated for each municipal zone to coordinate and supervise the arrangements. “The MCD has been directed to ensure adequate sanitation staff for regular maintenance of the Ghats to guarantee a pleasant experience for devotees,” he emphasized.
Highlighting the importance of cleanliness at Chhath Ghats, the Minister urged officials to ensure the availability of mobile toilet vans, ambulances, and fire safety measures at all significant locations.
The Irrigation and Flood Control Department has been tasked with ensuring safety and barricading at the Ghats, while the Fire Department, NDMC, and MCD will guarantee adherence to safety standards.
Furthermore, the Minister instructed relevant departments to provide breakfast and drinking water for devotees following the morning arghya (offering to the Sun).
