Guwahati, March 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced on Sunday that the Bodo dance form Bagurumba will be performed by over 10,000 youths in Guwahati this October, aiming to present this art form on the global stage.
He stated, "Following Bihu and Jhumoir, we will introduce Bagurumba to the world. This October, more than 10,000 youths will unite to perform Bagurumba in Guwahati to enhance the visibility of this remarkable Bodo dance form."
Recently, during the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment summit, over 7,500 artists from various tea gardens across Assam showcased the Jhumoir dance at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at the event and commended the state government's initiative.
Two years prior, the traditional Bihu dance made headlines by entering the Guinness World Records for the largest Bihu dance performance ever recorded.
This record-breaking event occurred on April 14, 2023, aligning with the Rongali Bihu festival.
