Bengaluru, Sep 24 (NationPress) BJP Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya has criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for initiating the Socio-Economic and Academic Survey, often called the caste census, in an impulsive manner.

He humorously remarked that the only individual pleased with the caste survey appears to be Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Lahar Singh, who serves on both the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology and the Consultative Committee on Home Affairs, expressed on Tuesday, "I wish Chief Minister Siddaramaiah a very joyous Dusshera. I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to him for inadvertently aiding my party's cause by alienating numerous groups in Karnataka."

“By hastily ordering a caste census, Shri Siddaramaiah has displeased everyone, including members of his own party and cabinet. Currently, the Vokkaligas, Lingayats, Dalits, OBCs, Brahmins, minorities, tribes, and nomads are all dissatisfied with the Congress government. The Chief Minister should inquire whether his own Kuruba community supports him or if they too are dissatisfied,” Lahar Singh criticized.

"Determining who is genuinely pleased with the caste survey is an important question. Perhaps only Rahul Gandhi fits that description," he mocked.

"Every community in Karnataka has developed its grievances regarding the caste survey. Each group fears the final results of the survey will not align with their expectations. Local news outlets are filled with such reports. It seems as though Siddaramaiah is on a path to undermine the Congress party, leaving nothing substantial for Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar to inherit when the time comes," Lahar Singh remarked.

"Nonetheless, we in the BJP have no complaints about this situation. I previously suggested that there was no need for the state government to conduct a separate caste survey when the central government had already announced a survey alongside the general census," he asserted.

“The predicament CM Siddaramaiah faces concerning the caste survey, compounded by significant scandals weighing on him, is evident in his public demeanor. Yesterday, during the inauguration of the Dasara festivities, he reprimanded his own supporters in Mysore, questioning their presence in the audience. Naturally, this affected the event's atmosphere and dignity. The political unrest in Karnataka has escalated significantly this week,” Lahar Singh concluded.
