Patna, Jan 19 (NationPress) A tragic road incident claimed the lives of three individuals in the Kishanganj district of Bihar on Monday.
The police reported that a head-on collision occurred between a truck and a dumper on National Highway-327E, near the Thakurganj police station area, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.
The impact was so intense that the fire erupted almost instantly, engulfing both vehicles.
Witnesses described the flames shooting up several feet, creating a scene of panic and disorder.
Traffic on the highway was halted for a significant duration due to the inferno.
Emergency teams from the Thakurganj police station and the fire department promptly arrived at the scene.
Despite their efforts, it took considerable time to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, three victims—two drivers and one helper—lost their lives, having been trapped in the burning wreckage.
The deceased have been taken into police custody and transported to Sadar Hospital in Kishanganj for post-mortem procedures.
As of now, one victim has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, a resident of Motihari district, while the dumper driver and helper remain unidentified.
Authorities are actively working to establish their identities and contact their families.
In the meantime, Sahil Alam, the truck's helper and also from Motihari, sustained injuries and is receiving medical attention.
Initial investigations indicate that overspeeding and negligence may have contributed to the accident.
Confirming the incident, SDPO-2 Manglesh Kumar Singh stated, “The truck, loaded with rice, was en route from Motihari to Guwahati, while the dumper, transporting boulders, was heading from Siliguri via Thakurganj towards Pauakhali. The catastrophic collision resulted in the fire.”
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
Both vehicles have been cleared from the roadway, and traffic has resumed.
The bodies have been recovered and sent for autopsy.
