Hyderabad, Dec 3 (NationPress) The operations of IndiGo at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad faced significant disruption, resulting in the cancellation of 40 flights on Wednesday.

As reported by an airport spokesperson, there were 19 departures and 21 arrivals canceled by 7 p.m. on December 3.

"We recognize that some flights at RGIA are currently delayed and experiencing schedule changes due to operational challenges. Our teams at the airport are collaborating closely with the airlines to facilitate their operations and provide passengers with timely information and assistance," stated an advisory from RGIA shared on social media.

"Operations at RGIA are functioning normally. We kindly urge passengers to verify the latest status of their flights with their respective airlines before arriving at the airport. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation," the advisory continued.

A total of 54 flights were canceled over two days. On December 2 (Tuesday), nine departures and five arrivals were canceled.

The cancellations on essential domestic routes caused considerable inconvenience to numerous passengers.

Wednesday's cancellations included arrivals from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Madurai, Hubbali, Bhopal, and Bhubaneswar.

Departures to major destinations such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hubbali, and Bhopal were also affected.

Earlier on Tuesday, flights from Raipur, Coimbatore, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, and Goa were canceled. Departures to Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Raipur, Udaipur, Goa, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam also faced cancellations.

On Tuesday, nine flights to locations like Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad were delayed.

The wave of cancellations and delays left many passengers stranded at the airport, particularly those traveling to key domestic destinations for connecting international flights.

Devotees of Ayappa were also impacted due to flight cancellations and delays. Those who had booked tickets for the Hyderabad-Kochi IndiGo flight found themselves stranded due to the delays. Affected devotees expressed frustration over the lack of response from airline staff regarding refund queries, stating that the delays disrupted their plans to attend ‘darshan’ at Sabrimala.
