Hyderabad, Nov 30 (NationPress) A staggering 983 individuals have been apprehended for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol during a dedicated weekend enforcement initiative within the jurisdictions of Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates, according to police reports on Sunday.

Out of these, 552 drivers were detained over the two-day operation in Hyderabad, while the Cyberabad traffic police intercepted 431 offenders.

The Hyderabad traffic police executed a two-day crackdown on November 28 and 29 targeting drunk driving to promote road safety. During this special operation, a total of 552 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Among these offenders, 438 were operating two-wheelers, 45 were driving three-wheelers, and 69 were behind the wheel of four-wheelers and other vehicles.

Offenders were classified according to their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels. Notably, 127 offenders had BAC levels between 35 mg/100 ml and 50 mg/100 ml.

The police recorded 212 cases for BAC levels between 51 to 100, 112 cases for those between 101 and 150, and 64 cases for BAC levels ranging from 151 to 200.

Nineteen offenders were identified with BAC levels between 201 to 250, eight had BAC levels between 251 to 300, and ten others were charged for BAC levels exceeding 300.

The police reiterated a zero tolerance policy towards drunk driving violations, emphasizing that this special drive will persist.

The Cyberabad traffic police also conducted a dedicated drunk driving enforcement operation over the weekend, leading to the arrest of 431 offenders.

Of these, 325 offenders were riding two-wheelers, sixteen were three-wheeler drivers, 86 were operating four-wheelers, and four were behind heavy vehicles.

Furthermore, 378 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 35 mg/100 ml to 200 mg/100 ml, 42 offenders had BAC levels between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while 11 offenders had BAC levels from 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.

All offenders are set to appear before the court.
