Gurugram, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Shyamal Misra, directed officials on Thursday to enhance interdepartmental collaboration and expedite infrastructure development initiatives in the city.
During a meeting held on Thursday, the CEO addressed the need to eliminate obstacles on the ground, improve civic amenities, and speed up the ongoing infrastructure projects in Gurugram.
Key projects involving multiple government agencies were thoroughly discussed during this assembly.
Senior officials from NHAI, GMDA, HSIIDC, HSVP, HVPNL, and MCG were present, where the CEO issued essential directives to tackle immediate challenges and accelerate priority projects within relevant departments.
Concerns regarding the incomplete connectivity of surface drains managed by NHAI with GMDA's master stormwater drains were raised.
GMDA officials reported that the stormwater drains installed by NHAI at critical locations such as Iffco Chowk, Signature Tower, Jharsa Chowk, Manesar Bus Stand, and Hero Honda Chowk have not yet been linked to the master drain of GMDA, resulting in waterlogging during monsoon.
The CEO instructed that a joint inspection be conducted immediately by the responsible officers from both departments to ensure proper stormwater discharge and prevent waterlogging on city roads.
The issue of waste dumping into the drains along the National Highway was also addressed by NHAI officials, who were directed to enhance the manpower and resources allocated to MCG for managing illegal waste disposal and to ensure daily garbage removal to keep the drains clear.
To mitigate temporary waterlogging, GMDA plans to install a 1300-meter pipeline to channel stormwater from Narsinghpur Village into the Badshapur drain during heavy rainfall.
NHAI was also directed to ensure the operational readiness of all pumping equipment deployed on this segment of NH-48 during the monsoon.
Among the priority projects being pursued by NHAI and GMDA is the upgrade of the 3.2 km corridor connecting Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk to enhance the city's road infrastructure.
HSVP officials were instructed to expedite the land transfer of one acre identified by HVPNL for relocating the substation obstructing the corridor alignment.
Additionally, the CEO GMDA urged for fast-tracking the utility shifting works to ensure a clear Right of Way (ROW) for NHAI and the upcoming Gurugram metro project.
GMDA is currently constructing service roads along the Dwarka Expressway, with approximately 8 km already developed.
The CEO emphasized the importance of completing these tasks within a specified timeframe to improve access to the Dwarka Expressway for local residents.
Furthermore, the CEO GMDA recommended regular coordination meetings among officials from various local authorities to address any obstacles and accelerate the projects aimed at enhancing Gurugram City.
