Chandigarh, Feb 14 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed commendation towards the Punjab government's initiative aimed at reducing corruption by directing all district officials, from Deputy Commissioners to Station House Officers (SHOs), to take action against corrupt practices, labeling it a significant stride towards transparent governance.
AAP's state President, Aman Arora, highlighted that this move would motivate diligent and capable officials while ensuring stringent measures against those engaging in corruption.
He emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party administration is dedicated to delivering honest and clear governance to the citizens of Punjab, and this directive reinforces that promise.
According to Arora, the main objective of this initiative is to guarantee that residents can access various government services without facing difficulties, bribery, or unnecessary inconvenience, thereby liberating the general populace from the scourge of corruption.
He mentioned that public feedback would be sought regarding officials from both the community and local MLAs.
“Following this feedback, trustworthy and proficient officers will be given additional responsibilities, while strict actions will be enforced against corrupt officials and employees,” Arora reiterated.
The Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) of the officials will also be influenced by this feedback.
He stated that this directive exemplifies the AAP government's commitment to good governance.
“Such initiatives will accelerate government operations and enhance public confidence in the administration,” Arora stated.
Arora also urged the public to engage actively in this initiative and provide extensive feedback and insights concerning officials to the Punjab government, facilitating large-scale administrative reform.
Senior AAP leader and spokesperson Neel Garg noted that the Bhagwant Mann administration has maintained a zero-tolerance approach toward corruption since its inception.
“There can be no compromises on this front,” he asserted, adding that following the government's establishment, actions were taken against hundreds of corrupt officials and employees, resulting in their incarceration.
“This decision will further guarantee accountability among district and tehsil-level officials, ensuring no form of corruption permeates the system,” Garg concluded.
