Mumbai, July 21 (NationPress) Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal vehemently criticized the Maharashtra government on Monday regarding the Agriculture Minister's act of playing online rummy during Assembly sessions, urging the Chief Minister to impose strict measures against the minister.
“With an alarming rate of six farmer suicides occurring daily in the state, the Agriculture Minister is engaged in online rummy within the Assembly. This situation is a profound embarrassment for Maharashtra. It appears that ministers exhibit a lack of awareness, and MLAs and officials have transformed into thugs and goons, while the Chief Minister and both Deputy Chief Ministers fail to rein in these arrogant individuals. Those who only target the opposition should demonstrate the courage to take stringent action against the disgraceful Agriculture Minister and the unruly office bearers,” he stated.
In his address, Sapkal remarked that post the clash within the Assembly building, the Chief Minister acknowledged the arrogance of the MLAs, but it is not just the MLAs; ministers and office holders have also become arrogant.
“The Agriculture Minister has made derogatory remarks about farmers, sometimes calling them beggars, and has insulted them by suggesting that the waiver money is used for marrying off farmers' daughters. Meanwhile, this individual was found playing rummy in the Assembly. In protest of this incident, the Chhava organization submitted a memorandum and card set to NCP State President Sunil Tatkare in Latur, but the goons deployed by Ajit Pawar violently attacked these protesters. Where does this arrogance stem from?” he questioned.
“Such intoxication of power does not endure. Protests are currently ongoing, but what value do hollow protests hold? The Agriculture Minister must be dismissed, and these arrogant street thugs should be imprisoned,” Sapkal demanded.
He further claimed that during the Assembly session, Congress raised a significant concern regarding certain ministers and officials allegedly entangled in a honeytrap, a claim the Chief Minister dismissed.
“As is customary, the Chief Minister has blatantly lied. The implications of this honeytrap extend very close to the BJP. A photograph of an individual associated with the honeytrap alongside a minister closely connected to the Chief Minister has surfaced, complicating the matter further. The government is attempting to suppress this issue, but a comprehensive inquiry into the honeytrap is essential,” he added.
