Ahmedabad, June 30 (NationPress) Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) announced a remarkable achievement, having crossed the 15,000 megawatts (MW) threshold of operational capacity, reaching an impressive 15,539.9 MW.
This milestone represents the fastest and most extensive capacity expansion in India's history.
The operational portfolio comprises 11,005.5 MW of solar energy, 1,977.8 MW of wind energy, and 2,556.6 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity, affirming its position as India's largest renewable energy provider.
“We are thrilled to announce that Adani Green has surpassed 15,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, marking the most significant and swiftest green energy expansion in India’s history,” stated Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.
“From the arid terrains of Khavda to a prestigious slot among the world’s Top 10 Green Power Producers, this achievement is more than a statistic. It symbolizes our dedication to the planet and our determination to spearhead India’s green revival,” the billionaire business magnate communicated via the X social media platform.
AGEL stands as the pioneering renewable energy company in India to reach this historic milestone, predominantly through greenfield initiatives.
“Reaching the 15,000 MW milestone is a source of immense pride. This accomplishment reflects our team’s unwavering commitment and hard work. It would not have been achievable without the visionary leadership of our promoters and the steadfast backing of our investors, customers, team, and partners who have supported us every step of the way,” remarked Ashish Khanna, CEO of AGEL.
“Motivated by Gautam Adani’s vision to position Adani as a global leader in renewable energy, AGEL is dedicated to establishing new benchmarks in innovation and operational excellence -- showcasing that clean energy can be delivered with unmatched scale and speed,” he added.
AGEL’s 15,539.9 MW operational capacity can energize about 7.9 million households.
The renewable energy generated can illuminate thirteen individual Indian states. AGEL’s operational portfolio is capable of supplying the entire northeastern region of India with renewable energy.
This landmark achievement coincides with AGEL celebrating a decade of delivering clean and affordable energy to India at an unparalleled pace and scale.
“Our goal is to accelerate our growth from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030, maintaining our focus on providing India and the world with sustainable energy solutions,” Khanna stated.
Adani Green Energy is constructing the world's largest renewable energy facility of 30,000 MW on the desolate lands of Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat.
Spanning 538 sq km, it is five times larger than Paris and can even be observed from space.
Upon completion, it will be the largest power plant worldwide across all energy sources. To date, AGEL has operationalized a total capacity of 5,355.9 MW of renewable energy in Khavda.
The swift advancements at Khavda reinforce AGEL’s dedication to India's objective of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
