New Delhi, 9 Feb (NationPress) The 15th edition of Aero India, “Asia’s largest aerospace and defence exhibition”, is set to kick off at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru, Karnataka, starting February 10.

The theme for this year's event is ‘The Runway to a Billion Opportunities.’

Covering an expansive area of over 42,000 sq m, with participation from over 900 exhibitors—including 150 foreign firms—this edition promises to be the largest Aero India yet.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted that the involvement of more than 90 nations signifies the increasing global trust in India’s aerospace and defence capabilities.

He mentioned that defence ministers or their representatives from around 30 countries are attending this event.

“The attendance of air chiefs and secretaries from 43 countries emphasizes the importance of this event—not just for India, but for the entire global defence community,” the Defence Minister stated.

Rajnath Singh referred to Aero India as a vital platform that will propel the government’s vision of a robust, capable, secure, and self-sufficient India.

“Aero India showcases the strength, resilience, and self-reliance of ‘New India’. It is essential not only for our defence readiness but also for shaping the nation’s future. It will exhibit our defence capabilities and build international partnerships. Our aim is to enhance collaborations in areas of mutual interest with friendly nations, nurturing deeper cooperation and shared advancement,” he stated.

The Defence Minister emphasized that this event is more than just a display of technology and innovation; it will inspire the youth, cultivating a scientific mindset and a spirit of innovation.

He underscored the evolution in the defence and aerospace sectors in recent years, noting that India is now adept at designing and developing major platforms and equipment domestically, as well as establishing a substantial supply chain.

“Advanced systems like the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, and C-295 Transport Aircraft are being manufactured in India. We are also committed to producing fifth-generation fighter aircraft locally. From advanced Agni missiles to the cutting-edge Hypersonic missile system and the Akash air defence system, we have numerous success stories,” he added.

The Defence Minister mentioned that these achievements are pivotal in reinforcing the defence sector, enhancing India's self-reliance and security.

He noted that since the corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board, the newly formed companies have shown exceptional performance in defence production.

“With a well-structured plan, we have empowered the private sector in defence and aerospace. Today, India boasts a robust private defence industry that is making significant contributions to our national security,” he remarked.

He expressed optimism that defence production, which has reached a record of Rs 1.27 lakh crore, will surpass Rs 1.60 lakh crore by the end of 2025-26.

Furthermore, he stated that defence exports, which have reached a record of Rs 21,000 crore, will exceed Rs 30,000 crore, highlighting the critical role of the defence industrial sector in positioning India as an economic superpower.

He asserted that advancements in the defence sector not only bolster national security but also enhance the economy.

“Technologies developed for defence applications foster innovation in the civil sector, leading to job creation and economic growth,” he added.

The Defence Minister regarded Aero India as a significant engine of economic strength, contributing to the overall growth and development of the economy.

He expressed confidence that Aero India will be remembered as a historic benchmark in India’s quest to become a global leader in the aerospace and defence arena.

The 15th Aero India will take place from February 10 to 14, with the first three days designated for business and the 13th and 14th open to the public.

The India Pavilion will showcase the capabilities of Indian defence industries in design, development, innovation, and manufacturing.

The impressive displays at the India Pavilion will symbolize the ‘Flight of Self-Reliance’, encapsulating India’s journey toward becoming a global aerospace and defence powerhouse.

The India Pavilion will be organized into five distinct zones, showcasing indigenous capabilities in aerial, land, and naval aviation, along with defence space and niche technologies.

Over 275 exhibits will be presented through various mediums, reflecting the complete defence ecosystem of the country, including DPSUs, design houses, and private corporations, including MSMEs and start-ups.
