The prominent Muslim organization praised the success of the recent demonstration in Delhi and announced through an official statement that its 31-member Action Committee has decided to use all constitutional, lawful, and democratic methods to contest what it describes as a “controversial, discriminatory, and harmful” bill.

Revealing plans for a nationwide demonstration, the AIMPLB stated that significant sit-in protests will take place in front of the state assembly in Patna (Bihar) on March 26 and subsequently in Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) on March 29.

Numerous office-bearers and senior leaders, along with representatives from various religious groups, are anticipated to join the protests.

“Leaders from civil society, members of other minority communities, and influential figures from Dalit, Adivasi, and OBC groups have also confirmed their attendance,” the organization mentioned in a press release.

The AIMPLB has reportedly invited members of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) from the Opposition to join their protest against the contentious legislation.

“In Patna, leaders from JD(U), RJD, Congress, and Lok Janshakti Party, including Bihar's Chief Minister, have been invited. In Andhra Pradesh, invitations have been extended to the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), YSR Congress, Congress, and leftist parties,” it further stated.

The AIMPLB has outlined detailed plans for a nationwide protest against the Waqf reforms and will conduct sit-ins and rallies to strengthen its opposition to the bill in the forthcoming days.

“While the sit-in protests are mainly planned in state capitals, demonstrations will also occur in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Malerkotla (Punjab), and Ranchi,” it added.

The organization aims to shape public sentiment against the Waqf Amendments by promoting campaigns on social media and initiating hashtag movements on X (formerly Twitter). Furthermore, the group intends to submit memorandums to the President through District Magistrates.

S.Q.R. Ilyas, AIMPLB spokesperson, expressed appreciation to the Muslim organizations, civil society groups, and leaders from Dalit, Adivasi, OBC, and other minority communities for their role in making the Delhi demonstration a significant success.
