Chandigarh, Sep 2 (NationPress) Sukhbir Badal, the President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), announced on Tuesday that the flood relief center established by the party in Jalandhar is now operational and will serve as the central hub for the distribution of relief materials to areas affected by flooding in Punjab.

Badal also called upon the Akali cadre and the people of Punjab to generously contribute relief materials for the center. Everyone wishing to donate can also contact the relief center for assistance. The Ludhiana unit, led by Parupkar Singh Ghuman, has provided three trolleys of medicines to the center. Badal expressed gratitude to the Shiromani committee for their prompt action in setting up medical camps in the flood-stricken regions, which will be staffed by the Guru Ramdas Medical University in Amritsar.

In response to a video appeal from residents of the Balachaur constituency, who expressed concerns over lack of support from state authorities, the SAD President dispatched 1,000 liters of diesel, along with tractors and earth-moving equipment, to aid in reinforcing the bund in Auliapur and Dhangar villages along the Sutlej river.

Sukhdeep Singh Sukar, the SAD district president of Nawanshahr, delivered the materials to the bund site. In other relief efforts, ration trucks have successfully reached Fazilka and Dera Baba Nanak. Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has also supplied 2,000 liters of diesel to strengthen vulnerable points along the Ghaggar in Mansa, along with two ration trucks. Meanwhile, Jagmeet Singh Hariau, the Patiala district rural president, donated 500 liters of diesel to reinforce the bund at Arnetu on the Ghaggar river.

Additionally, 40 trolleys donated by residents of Gurdaspur, led by Gurbanchan Singh Babehali, and 100 trolleys of materials contributed by Kamaljit Chawal and Naresh Mahajan from Deenanagar have been distributed to flood-affected areas. A truck carrying rations from Mohali has also been sent to Fazilka.
