Akash More Officially Nominated as Joint Candidate for Congress, RSP, and VBA in Baramati By-Election
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Baramati, April 6 (NationPress) Advocate Akash More, who serves as the Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, has formally submitted his nomination papers today as the collaborative candidate representing Congress, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP), and the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) for the upcoming by-election in the Baramati Assembly constituency.
He will be facing off against the President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Sunetra Pawar.
The Congress party has made it clear that should the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) choose not to contest for this seat, Congress will enter the electoral battle.
In line with this strategy, Congress State President Harshvardhan Sapkal engaged in comprehensive talks with RSP leader and former Minister Mahadev Jankar, as well as VBA leader and former MP Advocate Prakash Ambedkar.
This constructive dialogue has culminated in a united front, with both Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi offering their complete backing to the Congress candidate.
Campaigning under the motto “The Battle for Democracy, The Path of the Constitution,” the Congress party is placing its hopes on Akash More.
Party insiders suggest that Akash More's participation in the Baramati election, supported by this tripartite alliance, is anticipated to greatly influence the electoral landscape in this high-profile constituency.
Previously, Akash More indicated that he would reconsider his candidacy only if a formal First Information Report (FIR) is filed by the state government and a comprehensive investigation is initiated into the aircraft incident that resulted in Ajit Pawar’s demise.
“We are engaged in this struggle to defend democracy and counter the BJP's ideology,” stated Akash More.
“The incident involving Ajit Pawar was not merely a coincidence; it is crucial to uncover the truth. If the government registers an FIR and conducts a serious investigation, then I will contemplate withdrawing my nomination,” he added.
As a professional lawyer, Akash More carries a political legacy, with his father having previously contested against Ajit Pawar in 2014.
