New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) The chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Akhilesh Yadav, stated on Sunday that the 2027 elections will represent a pivotal moment for Uttar Pradesh, asserting that voters will opt to reinstate socialism and uphold democracy.

“The upcoming 2027 election will be the people's decision, a decision to bring back the socialist framework. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has undermined institutions, will be ousted through the democratic voting process. Each vote counts in driving the BJP away. When the BJP departs, democracy will thrive; when the BJP departs, the Constitution will be preserved; when the BJP departs, reservations will remain intact, and when the BJP departs, inflation will be kept in check,” Yadav stated.

He also launched a fierce critique of the BJP government's handling of Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, arguing that its execution has not fulfilled the promise of a straightforward and equitable system. “After numerous amendments, the government had to revise the GST laws once more. The pressing question remains, who has truly benefited since the implementation of GST?” he queried.

“Every time, assurances were made that GST would enhance trade, yet it has required multiple amendments. Now, tax slabs are being adjusted in the name of providing relief to the impoverished,” he remarked, suggesting that the ingrained practices of profiteering are so robust that no amendment could eradicate them.

Yadav also highlighted that despite nine previous budgets from the Uttar Pradesh government, conditions for traders and the economically disadvantaged have not improved.

The SP leader accused the BJP of being ‘Swadeshi’ in rhetoric, while in reality, they act like ‘Videshi’ (foreigners).

On a separate note, Yadav revealed on Saturday that he received a challan of Rs 8 lakh for overspeeding by vehicles in his convoy.

“Just yesterday, I got a notice stating that I owe a fine of Rs 8 lakhs for my vehicle. I didn’t even bother to review the document again since the government has surveillance cameras. My car must have been captured on their cameras, leading to the issuance of the challan. The narrative that will emerge is that the system is under the control of a BJP leader. I will investigate this and I’m confident he will be affiliated with the BJP,” he added.
