Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday, 25 May 2026, announced that redevelopment work on the Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba Railway Station in Alampur, Telangana, is nearly complete, with the project standing at 99 per cent completion and a total outlay of ₹6 crore.

Reddy, who also serves as BJP Telangana state president, shared photographs of the upgraded station on X, writing in Telugu that the redevelopment work has been carried out with 'ప్రపంచ స్థాయి అత్యాధునిక సౌకర్యాలతో' ('world-class, state-of-the-art facilities'). He noted the station will offer improved travel convenience to devotees visiting the Sri Bala Brahmeswara Swami and Jogulamba Devi temples in the area.

The station is named after two prominent deities enshrined at Alampur: the Jogulamba Devi Temple, one of the 18 Shakti Peethas in India, and the associated Bala Brahmeswara shrine, making the location a significant pilgrimage destination in Telangana.

Policy Backdrop

The redevelopment falls under the Amrit Bharat Stations Scheme, a central government initiative launched in 2023 to modernise more than 1,300 railway stations across the country with upgraded passenger amenities, improved concourses, better lighting, and enhanced accessibility features.

Indian Railways has prioritised stations that serve religious and tourist destinations as part of this nationwide infrastructure push. Telangana stations have featured in successive railway budgets and Amrit Bharat lists, reflecting a sustained focus on improved connectivity in southern states since 2014.

Stakeholders and Impact

The primary beneficiaries of the upgraded station are the large number of pilgrims who travel to Alampur to visit the Jogulamba Devi Temple, one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in the country. Improved waiting areas, cleaner platforms, and better passenger amenities are expected to ease the journey for devotees arriving by train.

Local residents of Alampur and the broader Nandyal district in Telangana will also benefit from the modernised facility, which is designed to improve multimodal connectivity and overall travel experience at this heritage-linked station.
