New Delhi, Oct 28 (NationPress) In an effort to strengthen Nagaland’s relief initiatives for those impacted by severe rainfall and flash floods, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sanctioned the advance release of Rs 20 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of SDRF for the year 2025-26, as stated by an official on Tuesday.
The State Disaster Response Fund is anticipated to facilitate immediate assistance for individuals affected by the torrential rains, flash floods, and landslides that occurred during this year's south-west monsoon season.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Government of India is committed to supporting state governments during natural disasters, providing essential aid as reported by the official.
So far in the financial year 2025-26, the Central Government has allocated Rs 15,554 crore to 27 states under SDRF and Rs 2,267.44 crore to 15 states under NDRF.
Additionally, Rs 4,571.30 crore has been dispensed from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states, and Rs 372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states.
The Central Government has also rendered comprehensive logistical support, including the deployment of necessary NDRF teams, Army personnel, and Air Force assistance to states affected by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts.
This monsoon season saw the maximum engagement of 199 NDRF teams across 30 states and union territories for rescue and relief operations.
Previously, HM Amit Shah sanctioned an advance release of Rs 1,950.80 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of SDRF to Karnataka and Maharashtra for the year 2025-26, as per the statement.
Out of the Rs 1,950.80 crore, Rs 384.40 crore was allocated for Karnataka, and Rs 1,566.40 crore for Maharashtra, aimed at providing immediate relief to individuals affected by the severe rainfall and floods during this year's south-west monsoon.
