New Delhi/Ahmedabad, Aug 31 (NationPress) Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah officially launched the Janrakshak projects under the Dial 112 initiative in Ahmedabad. The event was graced by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, among other dignitaries.
During his address, HM Shah emphasized that the '112' project is a groundbreaking initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at bolstering the country’s internal security, safeguarding citizens' rights, upholding law and order, and ensuring prompt response during emergencies, as stated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He remarked that the Home Department of Gujarat has taken a significant step in enhancing the state's security with the introduction of the '112 Janrakshak' project.
In conjunction with the launch of the '112 Janrakshak' initiative, the newly built homes and offices by the Gujarat Police Housing Corporation were inaugurated, alongside the rollout of a fleet comprising 1,000 police vehicles.
HM Shah highlighted the achievement of the Mansa police station receiving BIS certification, expressing pride as a native of Mansa, where he first began his political journey, making this recognition particularly meaningful for him.
He expressed that today, Gujarat is proudly marking its presence on the 'Dial 112 Janrakshak' map.
HM Shah pointed out the previous confusion caused by multiple toll-free numbers—like 100 for police, 108 for ambulance, 101 for fire service, 181 for women’s helpline, 1098 for child helpline, and others—now resolved by having a single number, 112, for all security-related services including disaster management, child assistance, women’s aid, fire services, and police support.
He assured that all services will be effectively coordinated via an advanced control room utilizing cutting-edge software, and the vehicles, equipped with GPS, will operate under a scientific framework. This includes a large fleet of 108 ambulances that will quickly locate callers and dispatch the nearest police, ambulance, or fire brigade vehicles.
HM Shah labeled this as a crucial advancement by the Gujarat Government towards a New Age Smart Policing System.
He further stated that Gujarat exemplifies the extent of transformation achievable under a governance model inspired by good practices. Today, Gujarat not only strengthens border and internal security but also effectively combats various crimes, including terrorism, narcotics, and cybercrime.
He acknowledged the path paved by PM Modi during his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister, which is being continued by the current Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi. He noted the government's remarkable success in establishing Gujarat as the safest state in the nation.
Once again, he expressed confidence that Left Wing Extremism will be entirely eradicated from the country by March 31, 2026, affirming this commitment from the PM Modi-led government.
