Neemuch, April 17 (NationPress) - In a heartfelt tribute to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared on Thursday that the nation has made a solemn commitment to eradicate Maoism from India by March 2026. His remarks were made during the 86th ‘Raising Day parade’ of the force in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh.

The CRPF, he noted, has provided unparalleled service to the nation. "With over 400 forward-operating bases established, violence related to Naxalism has seen an impressive decline of 70 percent. Whenever Naxalites hear of the CRPF’s approach, fear permeates their ranks like wildfire," the Home Minister stated.

"Currently, we have managed to confine these dangerous elements to just four districts," HM Shah remarked, emphasizing that the courage and resilience of this force, which dates back to 1939, cannot be overstated.

"As the nation progresses towards greatness by 2047," he stated, "the sacrifices of the CRPF and their families will be integral to our collective aspirations. In the chronicles of our glorious history, the bravery and heroism of our soldiers will shine eternally."

The Home Minister also revealed plans to create a Cobra battalion in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who not only presented the flag to the CRPF but also set forth its foundational tenets.

Recalling a historic moment, HM Shah mentioned that during the 1965 confrontation with Pakistani forces in the Rann of Kachchh, the CRPF responded decisively. Likewise, they played a crucial role during the attack on the Indian Parliament and the siege of Ram Janmabhoomi, overcoming these threats with unmatched bravery.

The force has tirelessly worked to protect the unity and sovereignty of India, HM Shah asserted.

Wherever turmoil emerges across the country, the presence of the CRPF instills unwavering confidence; their arrival signifies inevitable victory, he added.

Reflecting on the sacrifices made since its formation, HM Shah highlighted that 2,264 courageous individuals have sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation. He reassured the families of these martyrs, recognizing their crucial role in India's journey towards greatness by 2047. The nation takes immense pride in the CRPF, he emphasized.

Prior to the ceremony, HM Shah paid his respects to fallen heroes at the memorial. Riding in an open jeep, he then inspected the parade.

Eight contingents of the CRPF displayed their discipline and strength, with the Home Minister receiving their salute with dignity. He awarded medals of bravery to select CRPF personnel, acknowledging their extraordinary valor.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was also present to support the event.

Every year, March 19 is celebrated as CRPF Day, commemorating the day in 1950 when Sardar Patel, then Home Minister, ceremonially presented the flag to this esteemed force.

Neemuch is historically significant as it was here, on July 27, 1939, during British rule, that the 'Crown Representative Police' was established. Post-Independence, this entity was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force by Sardar Patel on December 28, 1949.
