Is Amit Shah Set to Lay the Foundation for Rs 379 Crore Flyovers in Ahmedabad?

Ahmedabad, May 16 (NationPress) - The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to commence construction on Sunday for two significant flyover projects in the western part of Ahmedabad, representing a pivotal advancement in the city's urban infrastructure.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has revealed that this Rs 379 crore venture aims to alleviate congestion on essential traffic routes and enhance the commuting experience for millions of residents.

The two flyovers - one along the Law Garden to CN Vidyalaya route and another adjacent to the Chimanbhai Patel Bridge - are projected to be finalized within 34 months.

Devang Dani, Chairman of the AMC Standing Committee, stated that these projects are tailored to tackle increasing traffic issues in some of the city's most bustling areas. The 770-metre Law Garden flyover, estimated at Rs 142.02 crore, will facilitate smoother transit through Panchwati Crossroads, Ambawadi Circle, and CN Vidyalaya, aiding over 150,000 commuters daily.

The more extensive project, a Rs 237.32 crore three-tier overpass near the Chimanbhai Patel Bridge, will extend nearly 2,000 metres and link to Subhash Bridge.

The Indian Railways will oversee the segment over the railway tracks, while the AMC will manage the remaining area, including utility space beneath the flyover. Ahmedabad has already witnessed the initiation of numerous major flyovers, including the recent projects like the Law Garden-CN Vidyalaya and Chimanbhai Patel Bridge extensions, totaling Rs 379 crore, according to Dani.

These flyovers are intended to alleviate traffic at high-density junctions, expected to benefit over 150,000 daily commuters.

In Surat, the local government has made significant investments in multi-level flyovers and corridor enhancements to combat persistent traffic challenges, particularly in industrial sectors and near railway crossings.

Vadodara and Rajkot have also executed strategic flyover projects to streamline city travel and diminish commute durations. Many of these developments are financed through a combination of state government funding, municipal budgets, and support from central initiatives.

Numerous flyover projects across Gujarat are supported by a blend of state infrastructure budgets, municipal financing, and central government schemes like AMRUT and Smart Cities Mission. Technical collaborations with companies such as L&T, Afcons, and IRCON have introduced advanced engineering techniques, encompassing pre-cast segmental construction and noise-dampening surfaces.
