New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his warm wishes to the nation on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day and encouraged everyone to take a pledge to actively participate in constructing a developed and self-reliant India.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, he expressed (in Hindi), "Heartfelt greetings of Republic Day to all fellow countrymen. Republic Day represents our faith in India’s constitutional values, commitment to social equality, and devotion to democracy. On this significant occasion, I pay homage to all the freedom fighters and the architects of our Constitution who laid the groundwork for a resilient republic."
The Home Minister urged citizens to take a pledge in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed and self-reliant India. "Let us, on this Republic Day, promise to actively contribute towards building Modiji's vision of a developed and self-reliant India," Shah stated in his message.
Earlier that morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his greetings to the nation during the 76th Republic Day celebrations. In a post on X, he expressed hopes that this day would reinforce our efforts in upholding the principles of our Constitution.
"Happy Republic Day. Today, we commemorate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We express our gratitude to all the remarkable individuals who crafted our Constitution and ensured that our journey is anchored in democracy, dignity, and unity. May this occasion bolster our commitment towards preserving the values of our Constitution and striving for a stronger and prosperous India," the PM stated.
President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the celebration of the 76th Republic Day from Kartavya Path in the national capital.
According to a government press release, this year’s festivities will highlight the 75th anniversary of the Constitution's enactment and the concept of Jan Bhagidari. The celebrations will uniquely showcase India’s rich cultural fabric, unity, equality, development, and military capabilities.
The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, will be the Chief Guest.
About 10,000 special invitees have been summoned to observe the Republic Day parade, aligning with the government’s goal to enhance ‘Jan Bhagidari’ in significant national events. These guests, representing diverse backgrounds, are the builders of ‘Swarnim Bharat’, including top achievers in various domains and those who have effectively utilized government initiatives.
