Guwahati, March 27 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is poised to initiate a new phase of campaigning in Assam, with a prominent roadshow scheduled in Guwahati this Saturday, as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensifies its strategies ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
As per party insiders, HM Shah will touch down in Guwahati on Saturday evening and will partake in a roadshow to endorse BJP’s candidate for Guwahati Central, Vijay Gupta.
The roadshow is anticipated to start at the Arya Vidyapeeth Playground and traverse significant areas within the constituency, aiming to galvanize voter backing in this vital urban region.
During his stay, the Union Home Minister will also convene meetings with party leaders and officials to evaluate electoral preparedness and enhance booth-level management tactics.
On the subsequent day, HM Shah will head to Sonitpur district, where he is scheduled to speak at a public rally at the Dhekiajuli Tea Estate football field in support of state minister Ashok Singhal.
Following that, he will travel to Tihu in the Nalbari district to campaign for senior minister Chandramohan Patowary at the Chamata Higher Secondary School playground, wrapping up his two-day tour.
Party officials noted that HM Shah’s visit is a component of the BJP’s expansive campaign strategy to reinforce support in key constituencies across both Upper and Lower Assam.
The Union Home Minister is also expected to return to the state on April 2 for campaigning in the Barak Valley region.
During this part of his tour, he will address election rallies in Sribhumi district supporting minister Krishnendu Paul and another in Silchar for former MP Rajdeep Roy. Voting for the 126-member Assam Assembly is set for April 9, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit Assam on April 1, where he will address two significant election rallies as part of the BJP’s campaign in preparation for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
According to party leaders, PM Modi will first speak at a rally in Bihpuria located in Lakhimpur district, followed by another public gathering in Gohpur.
Both constituencies hold political importance, and the Prime Minister’s visit aims to invigorate party workers and consolidate voter allegiance in Upper Assam.
