Kolkata, May 27 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a two-day journey to West Bengal this weekend, just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi participates in two significant events in Alipurduar district on May 29.
According to the itinerary, Shah will touch down in Kolkata on the evening of May 31. On that same evening, he is slated to convene with the BJP state leadership at a hotel in Salt Lake, located on the northern fringes of Kolkata, where he will stay overnight.
On June 1, Shah is scheduled to address a rally for party members, which will take place at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in central Kolkata.
He plans to return to New Delhi on the evening of June 1.
BJP's former national secretary Rahul Sinha mentioned that over 10,000 party members, including all elected MPs and legislators, are expected to attend the rally at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
Political analysts observe that the visits to West Bengal within the same week—first by the Prime Minister and then by the Union Home Minister—carry significant implications given the upcoming state assembly elections next year and the by-elections for the Kaliganj Assembly constituency in Nadia district next month.
A member of the BJP's state committee noted that during the meeting with state leaders on May 31, the Union Home Minister is anticipated to delineate the political, organizational, and campaign strategies for the upcoming elections.
“He is also expected to provide a roadmap for emphasizing anti-incumbency and corruption issues against both the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress,” the committee member added.
