Bhopal, Oct 30 (NationPress) The government of Madhya Pradesh is set to introduce the ‘PM Shri Air Tourism’ helicopter service on November 1, coinciding with the state’s Foundation Day. This initiative aims to enhance air connectivity among key tourist spots throughout the state, as announced by Tourism Minister Dharmendra Lodhi during a press conference in Bhopal.
The new service will operate under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and will be inaugurated at a ceremonial event held at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal.
The launch will be officiated by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, who will flag off three helicopters to signify the commencement of the ‘PM Shri Air Tourism’ service.
Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism) Shiv Shekhar Shukla, present at the press briefing, emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is pioneering intra-state air connectivity with a structured tourism-centric approach.
He further elaborated that the helicopter service is scheduled to run five days a week across vital tourism regions in the state.
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department has secured a three-year contract with M/s Trans Bharat Aviation for Sector 1, and M/s Jet Serve Aviation Private Limited for Sectors 2 and 3. In its initial phase, private operators will manage helicopters in each sector with a minimum seating capacity of six passengers, according to Shukla.
This initiative is poised to unlock new opportunities in adventure, heritage, and spiritual tourism, significantly enhancing the travel experience for both domestic and international visitors.
Regular operations are set to commence from November 20, connecting major cities and significant tourist attractions such as Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Pachmarhi, and Rewa.
Shukla remarked, “The service will not only enhance regional air connectivity but will also facilitate quicker and more convenient travel between tourism hotspots.”
