Andhra Cabinet Approves Development Projects Worth Rs 11,471 Crore in Amaravati

Amaravati, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh has officially sanctioned development projects for the capital, Amaravati, totaling Rs 11,471 crore.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, resulted in the Cabinet's approval of these projects, which had received clearance from the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) just the day before.

Furthermore, the Cabinet authorized the cancellation of previous tenders related to these projects and initiated the process for new tender calls.

During a media briefing, Minister for Information and Public Relations Kolusu Parthasarathi and Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana explained that the rising costs of the projects in Amaravati are attributed to a lack of attention from the previous administration, necessitating a complete overhaul.

Narayana noted that the budget for constructing the 360 km long trunk roads has surged by Rs 460 crore. The planned developments in Amaravati encompass the construction of administrative towers, an Assembly building, and a High Court complex, with tenders expected to be called by the end of December. Initially estimated at Rs 41,000 crore, the costs for these structures have now inflated by 30 percent.

Parthasarathi highlighted that the Cabinet has approved various policies aimed at enhancing the economic landscape of the State. These include a policy for Andhra Pradesh Information Technology and Global Capability Centres, the AP Textile, Apparel and Garments policy, and the AP Maritime policy. The IT and GCC policy is intended to position the State as a global leader in the knowledge economy.

The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to the ambitious 'One Family, One Industrialist' initiative, revealing plans to significantly promote co-working and neighboring working spaces to rapidly develop essential amenities.

This strategy aims to create job opportunities for the youth while bolstering the State's economic status. Parthasarathi expressed confidence that this would elevate every graduate to a global platform, potentially leading to high salaries.

The Maritime policy is designed to transform Andhra Pradesh into a globally recognized entity, capitalizing on its extensive coastline of 975 km. Currently, Gujarat leads in this regard, with Andhra Pradesh in second place, and the Minister believes that the implementation of the Maritime policy will enable the State to surpass Gujarat.

Efforts are also underway to bolster the shipbuilding sector, with discussions between the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister regarding the establishment of a major shipyard in the State. Additionally, initiatives are being taken to develop the necessary infrastructure for shipbuilding clusters and related projects.
