Did the UP Government Provide Relief Supplies to Flood-Hit Himachal?

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 10 (NationPress) The government of Uttar Pradesh has sent 37 trucks filled with 28 different types of crucial relief supplies to the flood-ravaged region of Himachal Pradesh, where catastrophic floods and landslides have rendered thousands homeless.

Out of these, 26 trucks reached Kondwal in Kangra district on Wednesday, while the remaining trucks are en route. These supplies will be distributed in Chamba and other severely affected areas.

UP Minister Jaswant Singh Saini personally led the convoy to Himachal, where the relief supplies were officially received by Himachal Pradesh's Leader of Opposition (LoP) and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, former Assembly Speaker Vipin Parmar, BJP leader Sanjay Guleria, former MLA Rita Dhiman, along with other prominent state figures.

Representatives from the Red Cross, including Devendra Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, Red Cross management member Neeraj Maheshwari, and member Deepak, were also in attendance.

The Uttar Pradesh government had previously donated Rs 5 crore to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Now, alongside this financial aid, 28 categories of relief supplies have been dispatched in 37 trucks.

These materials are to be distributed to flood-affected districts, including Chamba, for the benefit of displaced families.

Speaking to reporters, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur expressed his appreciation for the Yogi Adityanath government, stating, "On behalf of the people of Himachal Pradesh, I want to convey my thanks to Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, who generously contributed Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund during this devastating time."

Moreover, he emphasized that UP CM Yogi has sent a substantial shipment of relief supplies to assist those affected.

"Himachal will always remember the support from the Yogi government during this crisis. The disaster has devastated the state, leaving many families without homes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced Rs 1500 crore during his visit, marking the largest support to date," he added.

UP Minister Jaswant Singh Saini stressed the significant destruction caused by the tragedy in Himachal and affirmed Uttar Pradesh's commitment to aiding the affected population.

"Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has provided Rs 5 crore and dispatched a large shipment of relief supplies to Himachal Pradesh to assist those impacted by the disaster. These supplies will support families, livestock, and others in need," Saini stated.

He also pointed out that the 37 relief trucks contain 28 types of daily necessities and assured that further assistance would be sent if required.

Himachal BJP chief Rajeev Bindal welcomed the aid, saying, "This support from the Yogi government is a significant relief for those affected by this disaster. This unfortunate event in Himachal will be remembered for the extensive aid provided by the Uttar Pradesh government during this crisis."

"We warmly welcome Minister Saini and his team, who brought 26 trucks carrying 4,800 relief kits sent by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the affected people of Himachal Pradesh," he added.

This assistance from Uttar Pradesh follows a similar initiative by the BJP-led Haryana government, which sent relief materials to Himachal on Tuesday.

The combined efforts from both states come at a critical time when many districts in Himachal Pradesh are grappling with severe devastation, leaving thousands of families displaced.
