Amaravati, Oct 27 (NationPress) As cyclone Montha approaches the coast of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has issued an urgent directive for the evacuation of residents from vulnerable coastal regions to relief camps.
With the cyclone expected to bring severe impacts beginning Tuesday, he has instructed officials to warn the public accordingly.
In a tele-conference with district Collectors and other officials, the Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of providing nutritious food and organizing medical camps at the relief centers.
He also mandated the appointment of dedicated personnel to oversee the operations at these camps. The review meeting took place at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), followed by a teleconference with district collectors, superintendents of police, and other officials.
Naidu insisted on ensuring the availability of clean drinking water and the presence of medical staff for emergency care.
For districts anticipated to be affected by the cyclone, the Chief Minister advised Collectors to declare a holiday for schools and take accountability to safeguard lives and properties.
He stressed that the Collectors must oversee the implementation of cyclone relief efforts in their respective districts, utilizing volunteers for assistance. The entire government apparatus should operate with dedication to manage the cyclone effectively.
Naidu inquired about the situation from various district Collectors. Nellore district Collector Himanshu Shukla reported ongoing rainfall in the area since Sunday night, confirming that all necessary precautions have been adopted.
He requested that Collectors ensure the integrity of lake and canal banks, and advised against unnecessary movement during the cyclone.
Officials were also instructed to implement measures aimed at preventing landslides and accidents in hilly locations such as Vijayawada, Mangalagiri, and Visakhapatnam.
Meanwhile, Home Minister V. Anitha has called on citizens to exercise caution on social media, urging them not to share unverified information during the storm.
She reassured the public that the state government remains vigilant and prepared for any challenges posed by the cyclone.
According to Anitha, following the Chief Minister's orders, all departments have been coordinating closely for three days, taking precautionary actions in cyclone-prone regions.
She revealed that a coordinated response strategy has been established, involving district collectors, police superintendents, and relevant departments, to ensure prompt and effective measures.
Special officers have been designated for at-risk districts, and necessary funding has been allocated to facilitate relief efforts.
