Gwalior, Oct 29 (NationPress) Two prominent doctors affiliated with JAY Arogya Super Speciality Hospital in Gwalior have been charged with alleged molestation of a nurse.
An FIR has been lodged against the two senior medical professionals, including the hospital's Superintendent, Dr. Girjashankar Gupta, and Dr. Shivam Yadav, Head of the Nephrology Department, as confirmed by a senior police official.
Authorities took action following a written complaint from a 27-year-old nurse residing in Gwalior, who claimed that the senior doctors mentioned above allegedly molested her while assuring her job security.
The complainant, working as a contract nurse, recounted to the police that she visited Dr. Shivam Yadav's office to get her application signed and receive acknowledgment.
Upon entering, the nurse stated, "Dr. Shivam suggested that if I wanted to ensure my job, I would have to agree to sexual favors. Otherwise, I risk being transferred to another location where I wouldn't be able to work."
Further allegations include that Dr. Shivam instructed her to meet with Dr. Gupta, and when she declined, Dr. Gupta allegedly held her hand and touched her inappropriately.
Terrified, the nurse confided in her parents about the incident, leading to a formal complaint at the Kampoo police station in Gwalior late Tuesday.
Confirming the incident, SHO Amar Singh Sikarwar stated that the nurse, accompanied by her parents, reported the matter at the police station on Tuesday night.
"An FIR has been filed based on the nurse’s allegations, and both doctors are facing charges under Section 74, 75, 351, and the SC/ST Act of the BNS. An investigation is currently in progress, and appropriate actions will follow," the SHO added.
