The incident occurred at the rural hospital situated in the Gaighata police station area of Bangaon in North 24 Parganas.
This occurrence has sparked significant unrest within the hospital's premises following its revelation.
As per police sources, the event transpired on Monday.
The female medical student, who is currently pursuing her studies in pharmacy, had visited the Chandpara Rural Hospital for her training.
The accused, identified as Ratan Malakar, has been employed at the hospital as a temporary worker for an extended period.
His residence is situated in the Habra area within the same district.
On Monday, after the medical student used the toilet, the accused allegedly obstructed her path upon her return.
He is reported to have made an indecent proposal to her, which she promptly declined.
Fortunately, the medical student managed to escape from the situation.
Subsequently, she lodged a formal complaint at the Gaighata police station.
Following the complaint, law enforcement arrested the man on Monday night after conducting an investigation.
