Andhra Pradesh SIPB clears 11 projects worth ₹9,076 crore, 10,531 jobs expected
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) on Tuesday, 7 July approved 11 investment projects totalling ₹9,076 crore, expected to generate 10,531 jobs across the state. The meeting, held in Amaravati, was chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Key Projects Approved
Among the cleared proposals is a project by Adani Foundation at Kapuluppada in Visakhapatnam district, with a proposed investment of ₹2,200 crore — the single largest allocation in the current batch, according to an official release. The remaining ten projects span multiple sectors across the state.
Naidu's Directives on Industrialisation
Addressing officials at the meeting, Chief Minister Naidu directed them to actively promote industrialisation as a means of expanding income opportunities for farming families and enabling rural households to transition into entrepreneurship. He stressed attracting investments to strengthen the rural economy, with particular emphasis on the ethanol sector.
Naidu noted that raising ethanol blending to 40 per cent would provide substantial additional income to maize farmers. He instructed officials to encourage investment in ethanol manufacturing and called for a comprehensive policy covering ethanol, methane, and aviation fuel. The Chief Minister also highlighted food processing industries as a priority, framing wealth creation and a circular economy as central pillars of the government's development strategy.
Tourism Push: 100 Experience Centres Proposed
Chief Minister Naidu proposed the establishment of 100 Experience Centres at major tourist destinations across Andhra Pradesh, including Thimmamma Marrimanu. He identified Polavaram, Dindi, Gandikota, Kambham Cheruvu, and Lambasingi as sites to be developed into world-class attractions.
Notably, the Jindal Group has reportedly expressed interest in setting up a resort near Lambasingi and Araku. The Chief Minister also called for expediting the Suryalanka Master Plan and developing projects such as Kangundi Fort in Kuppam and an Elephant Safari in Chittoor district.
Hotel Infrastructure Expansion
Naidu highlighted a significant scaling up of hotel capacity in the state. Andhra Pradesh had 4,390 hotel rooms in 2024; approvals granted over the past two years have added 9,364 rooms, bringing total sanctioned capacity to 13,753 rooms — a more than threefold increase in approved supply.
Cultural Heritage and Handicrafts
The Chief Minister also called for the promotion of Andhra Pradesh's traditional handicrafts and cultural heritage, specifically naming Etikoppaka, Kondapalli, Dharmavaram, Mangalagiri, Uppada, and Ponduru as priority crafts. This comes amid a broader state push to position Andhra Pradesh as both an investment and tourism destination ahead of its planned capital development in Amaravati.
The approvals signal continued momentum in Andhra Pradesh's investment drive, with the government expected to pursue further SIPB meetings as it works toward its stated economic development targets.
