Tragically, at least eight women and a young boy lost their lives during the incident in Kasibugga town.

Numerous others experienced injuries or breathing difficulties.

A statement from the Health Minister's office confirmed that the best possible care was administered to those hospitalized at Palasa Kidney Research Centre and Super Specialty Hospital.

The fifteen injured who have fully recovered have returned home.

Currently, the eleven injured remain under treatment at Palasa Community Hospital.

Except for two or three patients, all are expected to be discharged within three days.

The Minister assured that doctors and medical staff are closely monitoring their recovery.

One injured individual has been transferred to GEMS Hospital in Srikakulam for surgical intervention.

In response to the tragedy, the state government has begun distributing compensation to the families of the deceased.

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu and State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu presented cheques of Rs 15 lakh each to the families of the victims, who came from three villages in Nandigam mandal within the Tekkali constituency.

The Union Minister stated that the federal government will also provide Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

He reassured the families that both the state and Union governments will support them during this difficult time.

Minister Atchannaidu expressed that the stampede was an unfortunate incident.

He committed to providing all necessary support to the families of the deceased and emphasized that the state government would implement measures to prevent future occurrences.

The stampede transpired as a large group of devotees rushed to enter the temple after the gate was reopened, coinciding with another group exiting.

The tragedy was exacerbated by the Ekadasi observance occurring during Karthika Masam, which attracted significant crowds.

In the meantime, police have filed a case related to the incident under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Authorities stated that the temple is a private establishment operating without the necessary approvals.

The organizers failed to notify local police prior to the event and did not adhere to safety protocols.

However, temple founder Hari Mukund Panda claimed he bears no responsibility for the incident.

The 94-year-old stated that devotees surged forward independently during the gathering.

He noted that he did not alert the police, believing the situation would proceed as usual and not anticipating such a large turnout on that Saturday.
