Chennai, Sep 23 (NationPress) K. Annamalai, the former state president and BJP leader of Tamil Nadu, has expressed his appreciation for actor-politician Vijay's remarks that question the transparency surrounding Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's foreign trips and investment agreements.
During a media interaction, Annamalai mentioned that individuals raising challenging questions in Tamil Nadu are often labeled as the 'BJP's B team'.
He called upon the DMK government to produce a white paper detailing CM Stalin's international trips and the specific agreements that were made.
Moreover, Annamalai alleged that the state was concealing the truth about significant investments, which were actually made by central public sector companies, misrepresented as private sector deals.
He stated, 'The shipyard project and two major investments totaling Rs 30,000 crore are from Central government firms. Why is the DMK hesitant to admit this?' He further accused the government and the Industry Department of misleading the public by portraying these investments as private sector commitments.
Regarding political shifts in anticipation of the 2026 Assembly elections, Annamalai revealed that he has had conversations with T.T.V. Dhinakaran, the leader of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).
'I have urged him to rejoin the NDA. Ultimately, it's his choice. Politics is devoid of permanent enemies. We should await his decision until December,' he mentioned.
He added that as election season approaches, minor disputes would likely diminish. Annamalai also indicated plans to meet with O. Panneerselvam (OPS) following his ongoing foreign trip.
On the national front, Annamalai defended the Centre's management of GST, highlighting that constitutional assurances for states were established only after the Modi government took office.
He criticized Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for questioning the GST framework, urging senior leaders to avoid making misleading remarks.
When asked about his interactions with actor Rajinikanth, Annamalai clarified that their meetings are based on personal friendship and spiritual conversations.
'He provides me with guidance from time to time. I don’t need to meet anyone secretly. I express my views openly,' he stated.
Lastly, Annamalai took a jab at Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu, suggesting that Appavu often comments more on the opposition than on Chief Minister Stalin himself.
'It would be more productive if he concentrated on his legislative duties instead of frequent political commentary,' he concluded.
